Take a guess at the increase in average years in retirement since 1960.

Maybe it's gone up by 5% or 10%, you might say.

I was surprised to learn that it has increased by ... wait for it ... more than 800% ! -- from 1.6 years in 1960 to 13.5 years in 2005.
